NICHE

Okay here is the NICHE post :)

Niche was my first ever market experience as a stallholder and I love that 20% of all profits from stallholders went to St Giles .  It was flat out on the Friday night and Saturday was just as busy until later in the afternoon when I was able to check out the other talented stallholders.  There was so many gorgeous stalls and plenty of variety - which just goes to show how well organised the market is.  Friday night was quite cold, windy and wet so I am so glad we were indoors so we didn't freeze and our stock didn't blow away or get damaged. 

This is my stall before the crowds arrived.

I had a blast (and was exhausted by the end of it!!!)  Liz (the organiser is super friendly and supportive - always offering to help which made the experience 100 x easier).

 
I also had fantastic family support with my twin sis lending a hand most of the time and mum there when she wasn't (hubby was on babysitting duty) which was very handy when I wasn't feeling the best (darn morning sickness).  My neighbours were very friendly one of which was studiooat.  I had to make a few purchases while there so I got the artwork and card from studiooat and the cute tags from another stall (sorry I forget who - baby brain setting in).

I had such a wonderful 1st time experience and learnt so much, met so many wonderful people and had such lovely feedback on my work.  Thanks to all those who visited my stall and made the experience such a pleasure.

"Row, row, row your boat"

Before Chloe could walk she was climbing onto … EVERYTHING! The TV unit, coffee table, chairs and then dining table, benches etc. To stop her from climbing onto things too high our dining chairs were relocated into another room or turned upside down to avoid her falling or worse getting into the cutlery drawer with the sharp knifes. Since she is older now (and can get the chairs from other rooms and turn the chairs back over) I have pretty much given up on relocating the chairs and lucky for me she has pretty good balance and hasn’t had any big falls.

One Sunday after church Chloe decided that our empty fruit bowl (a kava bowl that is a souvenir from our honeymoon) would make a great boat and sat in it singing “row, row row” and moving her arms forward and backwards. This cheeky face just makes me smile.

Sorry for my lack of blogging- am still working on Niche things (DON’T FORGET 1st and 2nd APRIL AT THE TRAMSHEDS) and other deadlines. I have some news I will share very soon so stay tuned :)

To Market, To Market

Exciting news!  I am off to market!!!  Niche to be exact.  I was accepted for the April 1st and 2nd market in Launceston and I am super excited.   Niche is a fantastic market that supports disabled Tasmanians and their families by having stall holders pay 20% of all sale proceeds towards St Giles.  So by making a purchase at Niche you not only support the local crafting community but you help those in need to!  I hope I can make a difference in a small way to the families and carers of these beautiful people (they are such great examples to me because they have so much love and patience for those they care for). 

I have been painting and packaging and feel I am pretty much on top of things for the market.

I now just have some baby onesies to appliqué and I think I am good to go (fingers crossed)!  I am seriously nervous :s!  It is my first "proper" market and I am stressing whether I will have enough stock - or too much?!  I guess the only way to know is go and find out.  (My made it store won't be re-stocked until after Niche)
