Cute as a Cupcake

After Sarah was born we had a beautiful delivery of custom cupcakes from some lovely friends (Thanks Tim and Helene) but the days have been going by so fast I haven't had the time (or energy) to post about them until now. 

They were super delicious from The Cupcake Fairy and I highly recommend them!!! 

In other news Chloe is much better now.  While sick she did have a nap or two through the week ( a rare thing these days) so it was nice to take advantage of them and rest myself.  On one of these days she decided the puzzle basket would be comfortable and grabbed some play silks for her blanket :).

 Being the kind sharing sister that she is she even gave Sarah her cold :s - which has made nights VERY bad. 

On Sunday we took Sarah to hospital after she brought up a significant amount of mucus along with almost all of her previous feed.  So we have been monitoring her, giving her lots of cuddles and had the vaporizer out to ease the congestion and fingers crossed she will be better soon.  Until then we are living on very little sleep, still trying to get into routine while keeping up the usual activities with older sis so she doesn't feel neglected but I wouldn't have it any other way :)  I love being a mum!

Life

Life at Clares Place at the moment is pretty crazy - I had forgotten just how little sleep you get with a new born in the house (I'm exhausted).

To top it off Chloe has an ear infection and fever and is in need of constant attention and not sleeping well either - this has been a blessing in some ways as she doesn't have the energy to do much and is less disagreeable.  Fingers crossed she gets better soon and her 2 year old attitude stays away also. 

But as with many things the good far exceeds the bad and some sleepless nights are so worth having these two precious princesses in my life!

A New Addition to the Family

Sorry for my blogging absence!  I have a very good excuse - promise.  Our family recently welcomed another beautiful girl -
Sarah Nahla. 

Contractions started Sunday and she was born late Sunday night weighing 7lb 3oz and is a very healthy and happy baby.  Lucky for me the nurses thought I was doing pretty well so I was able to be home the following afternoon (Monday). 

Sarah sleeps well - only problem is she has needed the constant contact when she does sleep so hubby and I have been taking shifts which leaves us both super tired but all part of having a newborn.  Chloe has been finding it tough to adjust to sharing her parents but is getting better.  We bought Chloe a present from baby Sarah - her own baby to look after which has been thrown to the ground a few times along with "I don't like my baby" usually when Sarah is getting some attention. 

Although Cloe does get a little jealous she still loves her sister and often strokes Sarah saying "it's awright" even when Sarah isn't crying and asks "let me hold him!" and calls Sarah baby George (the baby of a friend) ;p. 

I will try and post more regularly as I now have a new computer (and HEAPS to blog about!) - although with a new baby and trying to get into a routine I can't make any promises. 

A New Cousin for Chloe

On Saturday (9th April) my sister in law gave birth to the beautiful Charlotte Faye who weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces.  I hear her brother and sister are still adjusting to having a new baby in the house and are not thrilled with all the crying and noise she makes ;p.  We are VERY blessed to have a large extended family with lots of cousins for Chloe to play with.  It will be Christmas before we will meet this precious little one.

This years Christmas get together will be extra exciting for Chloe because she will meet Charlotte and catch up with her other 2 "mainland cousins"along with all her other cousins including a brand new cousin due not long after her brother or sister.  Yep my sister in Law Anna is pregnant and due a couple of weeks after me.  She is one of those pregnant women those of us who suffer morning sickness are jealous of - she doesn't get morning sickness at all (though her energy levels go down).  Told you you would be jealous ;p  Though I must say the morning sickness wasn't as bad for me when I had the miscarriage as it is now so I am grateful for yucky morning sickness because it is a constant reminder of the precious little one growing inside me.  I am grateful for new cousins that can grow up together, play together, support and help each other learn and grow.  I am especially grateful that some of Chloe's cousins are so close in age and so excited that Anna and I can share the pregnancy process together.  Congratulations Anna we can't wait to have a new addition to our extended family.      

My Creative Space + Beach 'fun'

This weekend has been lovely and relaxing catching up and staying with family in Port Sorell.  Our princess went 'swimming' at the beach.  The water was FREEZING and she didn't go in far, we built a few sandcastles until I uncovered some of the soldier crabs and she quickly climbed on "ma's" (grandma's) lap not wanting to put her feet on the ground (she is petrified of them and usually wont walk on the sand where there are holes from them digging hiding places but this time after realising the little crabs were there she would not put her feet on the sand in fear of them!).  When we moved she would cling from me with her little legs tucked up under her so she would not have to put her feet on the sand where the scary crabs are.  Unfortunately (true to form) I forgot to take the camera so I didn't take any photos.  SORRY! :s

 On another note you may remember that I have recently been painting my sewing/craft room. Here are some photos of my creative space so far (It does still have quite some way to go before it is complete!).  In the photo above you can see my sewing desk, pressing station and ideas boards.  The photo below shows my messy fabric collection (mostly stored in the tub) and other craft projects on the go at the moment on the shelves.  The cork board was a garage sale find and was going to be covered in white felt to use as an ideas board for my quilting blocks however I think it will be far too small so I will need to get a MUCH larger one.  The desk below the bookshelf is my cutting station.  I have been given two dressers my grandfather made and I am going to paint them up red to go in this space to store my fabric stash and crafting supplies (I may then put a board on top of these to make a new table if they are not deep enough for my cutting).  So as you can see my creative space is quite basic but it is what works for me at this time.     

 

If you look really closely you can see three of my current projects on the go at the moment just looking to be bound (more sneak peaks later :p ).  What do you think of my creative space?  What does yours look like?

Teddy Bears Picnic

Yesterday was the teddy bears picnic at the city park. Our princess had a fantastic time. She did some painting, pasting, climbing, sliding, had her face painted and got a balloon.

She had her first experience on a jumping castle which was quite interesting because she just watched the other kids jump while she either sat or stood - usually she is all up for physical activities but this time she was overwhelmed by so many unfamiliar bouncing bodies. Although her previous trampoline experiences she has always had someone’s hand to hold but she had no older cousins to help her this time.




Our princess also loved the stories shared by the rock and rhyme guys (a local library program) where she got some tiny teddies.

After the teddy bears picnic we went and watched the monkeys (our princess’ favourite thing to do at the park- probably because she is such a cheeky monkey ;p )




Then we went and met daddy during his lunch and played some more. After so much fun she was so exhausted she was asleep before we even got out of the car park and didn’t wake when she was transferred into her bed!

We will certainly be going back to the teddy bears picnic next year!
